We have undertaken a task all too familiar for the start of the year, like many others, to live healthier. Waking up early for morning runs, avoiding my favorite side of the pantry and eating cleaner were all parts of the transition that didn’t immediately become habitual. Oh! and drinking so much more water than I had been.

It seemed a bit daunting at times. So you can imagine our delight when we met with Gus and Carmen, fitness coaches and soon to be parents! This was it, the universe was finally through with the subtle hints and aligned our path with professionals. Isn’t it funny how life works out (pun intended)? Carmen and Gus are serious #powercouplegoals and are fitness coaches. Not only do they endorse healthy eating habits and daily wellness tips, they also are their own CEO’s of Latino Fit Club. On the day of Carmen and Gus’ maternity session, we had worried the weather wouldn’t cooperate since it had been so cloudy. However, just as we were to begin the shoot, the sun peaked through the clouds offering some nice light.

Carmen and Gus have such chemistry that working with them was truly a pleasure. It was inspiring to hear their story of how they too had grown tired of the mundane and put it all on the line to chase their dreams of working for themselves. What’s more, they shared with us how they managed to come together even closer due to a recent fire which destroyed most of their keepsakes. Through it all, they maintained their friendship, which makes this birth a time for new beginnings, in more ways than one.

As the shoot continued, they shared with us their professional insight to healthier living and tips for a cleaner lifestyle. We grew closer as we shared stories about the risk and reward of self employment and the small victories that make it all worth it. After an outfit change we relocated to capture more remarkable shots.

Once the shoot came to a close, and after we parted ways, Sasha and I couldn’t help but admire Carmen and Gus for their values. You see, their story really put things into perspective. Through the loss of personal items and the fear of the unknown they managed to never lost sight of what’s really important, and that’s family. We are excited to see this family grow, so cheers to you Carmen and Gus, enjoy the new beginning of your lives you are going to be great parents!
