Want to have a hiking engagement session? Then a Sequoia engagement session could be just the ticket! Read on to figure out if a Sequoia engagement session is right for you.
As your friends and insiders, we always encourage everyone to make the most of their photo sessions. Occasionally, Sasha and I will ask ourselves, “what could we have done differently during our photos”? Because as we all know, hindsight truly is 20/20. There are many different schools of thought as to how you can personalize and add sentiment to any photo session. However, the easiest and most notable way to do that is to simply make a trip out of it. Seize this opportunity to hit the road, be a little adventitious, and explore the wonder that is all around you. After all, these engagement photos are the precursor to the big day. Don’t be afraid to try something new.
SEQUOIA IS A TRULY MAGICAL PLACE
Deciding the city wasn’t quite their scene, Vanessa and Dennis sought out the natural beauty of Sequoia National Park for their engagement session. We could not have picked a more beautiful setting. If you have ever been to Sequoia, you might recall that it’s home to the largest living organisms on planet earth. Giant redwoods. You can’t help but be awestruck when you step into the shadow of these ancient trees (Quick fact. The largest of these redwoods, known as the “General Sherman Tree”, is estimated to be 2000 years old standing at 275ft. tall and is STILL continuing to grow).
THE THICK MUD DIDN’T STOP US
Dennis and Vanessa have so much chemistry. They managed their way through some of the tallest grass and even thicker mud puddles we have ever encountered during a session. However, scrolling through their gallery you would never know it, simply because they are just so lost in each others arms throughout every single image. It’s remarkable how love can really make you overcome anything, such as the endless barrage of mosquitos we encountered. They say the body can achieve what the mind believes, but I think “…a person in love can march through forest and mud” is a bit more fitting. Perhaps I should make that a t-shirt, I digress.
SMOKEY THE BEAR WAS ON CALL
We finish the first half of the session making our way back onto the beaten path with a few scratches, some dirty boots, a what we would later discover to be a million bug bites (Pro Tip: don’t be afraid to cover yourself in an excessive amount of bug spray while visiting the Sequoias). After a quick wardrobe change, our favorite forrest foragers Vanessa and Dennis bring out ALL the glam to the National Park. The sun shined a bit brighter just to get a peak through the trees at their evening attire, meanwhile, Smokey The Bear was on call because these two were heating things up in a major way.
WHEN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL IMAGES HAPPEN
The lighting was perfect, Dennis and Vanessa completely owned the home stretch of the session. Smile. Smolder. Hug. It was truly a lesson in love with these two, they took the time to enjoy the little laughs in between each shot. They lead each other hand in hand no matter where they went. We don’t just say we have the best couples, we know we have the best couples around. You see, the most beautiful images don’t come from the right prompt or even the right outfit, they come from putting your feelings for each another on full display. That’s when the real magic will occur.
Happy trekking everyone, be sure to cover up if you hit the trails. 🙂 And we look forward to photographing Vanessa + Dennis’s Wedding tomorrow at The Barn at Ellis Ranch!
