There is so much to love about the city of Santa Barbara. The weather is phenomenal, the food is elite, the architecture is stunning and the romance blossoms year round. Today’s featured wedding transports us throughout two of Santa Barbara’s most iconic landmarks, like the Santa Barbara Courthouse and the Santa Barbara Inn / Convivo, as we celebrate Chris and Emily.

The iconic Santa Barbara Inn

We started the day off at The Santa Barbara Inn, an iconic hotel located steps away from the beach. The historic landmark overlooks the ocean through a veil of palm trees. Even the grounds of the Santa Barbara Inn are absolutely flawless – it’s the perfect setting for a bride to get ready. Here, we find our leading lady surrounded by friends and family prepping for the big day. We touch base with the amazing Kendalyn Grayson while the wonderful team on hair and makeup apply their finishing touches. We dedicate our time capturing candids and preserving the details of the moment.

Showcasing her eye for design, Sasha intricately arranges the flat lay – it’s artistry in the highest watching her work. During the planning process, we encourage couples to bring along an invitation suite for the big day. Especially when the shoreline of Santa Barbara is painted on them – just look at the craftsmanship on each one! First Look at The Santa Barbara Courthouse

After capturing unforgettable bridal portraits, it was time to find our leading man. Chris had made his way to the world renowned Santa Barbara Courthouse where we were to meet. At this point, we are inching close to the first look so timing was everything! Straightaway, we seek out an area for the beautiful memory, ultimately deciding to use a grandiose side entrance. Now, once in a while, there are weddings happening throughout the courthouse. However, today was our lucky day. Although, there was a wedding going on there was hardly anybody wandering the property. Of course, that made this moment that much more intimate. We have always been fans of the first look, and it easy to see why. Moreover, the Santa Barbara Courthouse was the most ideal location for it due to the iconic architecture and timeless greenery.

As Emily made her way to the first look, we stay back to allow emotion to determine the images. Love and romance are the guiding forces that create heirloom imagery. So, as the soon-to-be weds share in a moment, we capture the light from a distance. If you are considering doing a first look for your wedding, allow this to be the sign you are waiting for. The images are breathtaking and the confidence it provides to walk down the aisle is immeasurable.

Ceremony and Convivo at Santa Barbara Inn

The most beautiful weddings always have one thing in common. They speak to the couple on a personal level. While, it would be easy to overstate the obvious, “How could it NOT be the most beautiful wedding ever when you are steps from the ocean?”. But, that isn’t what I’m talking about. These weddings, the ones that stay with us forever as photographers. The beauty of the moment is so captivating that the scenery tends to slip away into forever, leaving only a soundtrack of crashing waves while two best friends dedicate their lives to one another. Chris and Emily’s wedding was the sort I’m trying to describe, in so much as you can describe something so beautiful that it has to be seen to be believed.

After professing their love for one another, with plenty of support from the community of Santa Barbara I might add, these two were officially married! The reception was held at Convivo, Santa Barbara Inn’s elegant fine dining restaurant. After enjoying cocktail hour with friends and family, we sneak away the newlyweds to capture sunset images on the beach. The results are incredible. As I mentioned prior, the chemistry our couples showcase allows our cameras to document love and romance effortlessly. Obviously there is some technical work going on, but, these moments of romance and the preservation of friendship in an image – this is what drives our passion for photography. This is what we do it for.
