If You’re Planning an Express Wedding

First, if you’re planning an express wedding, you’l need to complete a Marriage License Application and copy order application before getting in line. You may have 1 witness (guest). The ceremony will take place at the counter.

The Public License and Ceremony costs $204. Marriage Certificate copies are $17 each.

How to Obtain Your Marriage License

Secondly, if you’re planning a regular ceremony you’ll need to apply for a marriage license. Upon entering the Santa Barbara Courthouse, you must complete the application online or at the kiosk before getting in line. The clerk will need the Order Number starting with SST.

You and your fiance must be at the Santa Barbara Courthouse together. Be sure to bring your valid government issued photo IDs.

For a regular Public License, the cost is $100.

For Marriage Ceremony Appointments

The Santa Barbara Courthouse offers Civil Marriage Ceremony appointments Monday through Friday only. Additionally, this is also excludes holidays. For this option, the guest limit is 10 people, including the couple, children and photographers.

Finally, go to SBCRecorder.com to make your reservation. You’ll need to pay a $23.00 non-refundable reservation fee.
